Pick-EL Ball Tournament Champions Mental Health Awareness in Kohler

Second Annual Event Honors Elli Zahn Westfall and Supports Suicide Prevention

The Second Annual Pick-El Ball Tournament is set to take place on Saturday, December 6, at the Sports Core in Kohler, Wisconsin.

This indoor pickleball event aims to raise awareness for mental health and support suicide prevention efforts.

Participants aged 14 and older are invited to compete in a doubles, round-robin format, with brackets available for women's doubles, men's doubles, and mixed doubles.

Each team is guaranteed four games, ensuring ample playtime for all.

The tournament is held in loving memory of Elli Zahn Westfall, who tragically lost her battle with depression in November 2014.

Her friends and family have organized this event to honor her legacy and to spark important conversations about mental wellness.

Proceeds from the tournament will directly benefit local mental health programs and resources through Mental Health America (MHA) of the Lakeshore.

According to recent reports, mental health has been identified as a top health issue in Sheboygan County, with rising rates of depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidality.

In 2020, suicide was the second leading cause of death for individuals aged 10 to 24.

By participating in this event, attendees contribute to vital suicide awareness training and youth programming in the community.

The day's schedule is as follows:

8:30 AM – Registration

9:00 AM – Opening Ceremony

9:15 AM – Men's Doubles

11:15 AM – Women's Doubles

1:15 PM – Mixed Doubles

4:00 PM – Tournament Conclusion and Social Gathering at a Local Establishment

Throughout the event, attendees can also participate in a silent auction, raffle, and community engagement activities.

For more information on sponsorship, volunteering, or general inquiries, please contact Lilly at lilly@linkpickleball.com or Jamie at jamietestwuide@gmail.com.

Join the community in celebrating Elli's life and supporting mental health initiatives through the joy of pickleball.
